Project Title : A study on the effects of lonospheric variabilities on the usability of NavIC / GAGAN using observations and models.
No. of Posts : 2
Qualification : BE / B.Tech in Engineering Physics, MSc Physics with flare for programming and a keen interest in writing computer programs and simulations, Dual degree in Physics (Integrated BS/MS or dual degree).
Desirable : 1.Good programming skill 2.Willing to work in all aspects of modeling / simulation of ionosphere. 3.Willing to learn such systems / topics from open resources. 4.Willing to travel at short notice to anywhere in india for research work and data collection

Project Title : Design and Development of NavIC Receiver

Qualification : BE / B.Tech in Electronics and Communication (or subject related to communication).
Desirable : 1. Good programming skill 2. Experience in FPGA / DSP/ Embedded systems based applications or related areas in reputed R&D institution or industry. 3. Digital design / VLSI and knowledge in communication system designed. 4. Experience working on GNSS based receives like IRNSS / GPS etc. 5. Willing to work in all aspects of design / development and fabrication of IRNSS navigation receivers 6. Willing to learn such systems / topics from open resources. 7. Wiling to travel at short notice to anywhere in India for work and data collection.

Project Title : Experimental investigation of laminar burning velocity of premixed Isrosene / air / Oxygen mixtures using freely expanding spherical flames.

Qualification : ME / M.Tech / MS in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering or related areas
Desirable : Experience in performing thermal engineering, basic simulations of thermal engineering problems using commercial CFD software. Exposure to optical and laser diagnostics experiments like Schlieren and Mie Scattering visualisation. Exposure to simulation of cold / reacting flow using softwares such as FLUENT / CFD++/OPENFOAM

The institute had the enviable reputation among all educational institutions since it had Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the renowned technocrat and former President of India as its very first Chancellor. Kiran Kumar (former Secretaries DoS / Chairman ISRO) as Chairman, Board of Management, IIST and Chairman, Governing Council, IIST, respectively, the previous Director, Dr. K. S. Dasgupta led the institute to achieve its mission of creating a unique learning environment enriched by the challenges of the Space exploration, by nurturing the spirit of innovation and creativity. IIST was judged as the eighth ranked University among all Deemed Universities in 2016 in the first National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) by MHRD. Dr K Sivan has assumed charge as Secretary, DoS in January 2018 and IIST is looking forward to Dr Sivan and the present Director Dr V.K. Dadhwal to take the institute to the next higher level of excellence. In the year 2017, IIST was ranked 28th among all engineering institutes, 35th among all universities and 56th overall among all institutions by MHRD in its second NIRF ranking.
