As a fresher how can I introduce myself for a job interview?

Now this is a hard hitting question in almost every interview and with almost every fresher who may or may not have some confidence issues.

As soon as the HR asked “ Tell me about yourself” our minds start racing in multiple directions as to where to start from. If normally anybody would ask you the same question you can make him listen to your lefe history through day and night. But in the interview room the “Tension clouds” feels the whole room, thus making you think what to say and what not.

Many freshers with good communication skills think that they can’t do this easily on spot but they fail. Even I failed many a times, I started fumbling and lack of words made the situation more worse. Thus, as a result was thrown out of the interview. :(

So, wondering and wondering I thought what it really takes to answer this question.

For this I joted down some points and then wrote an introduction of almost 3 page which would take 2–3 minutes to speak.

Points:

  1. Introduce yourself to the interviewer by doing a warm handshake followed by a pleasantry. For example - “ Hello, I am Prachi Tiwari. It’s pleasure meeting you.” Never use the word myself thats inapproriate.
  2. Tell them about your educational qualification in0 chronological order starting from higher degree. Example - I am pursuing/ pursued “Course Name” from “College Name” with an aggregate percentage of “%”. I completed my schooling from “School Name” with “12th%” and “10th%” in 12th and 10th respectively.
  3. Tell them something about your particular interest in any subject.
  4. Tell them about your projects, research work or any such activity who can be specific in regard to the interview. Give them a brief outline and not much details it should sound interesting not boring. You can use some technical terms so that interviewer might think you have some technical knowledge and with this you can turn the tables at your side(Remember you should be well aware of the project).
  5. Tell them about your passion, accomplishments, achievements in school and at college level. Try to make them interesting.
  6. Tell them about your strengths and weakness, but make a note that your weakness should sound positive else it can have a negative impact as well.
  7. Tell them about any voluntary activity in which you particiapted. Like NGOs, Blood donations and similar.
  8. Lastly, to impress them you can tell them why this job is so important for you and how can you add value to the following organisation.

All this points might help you to create a good introduction about yourself. See, creating an introduction won’t do any magic untill and unless you rehearse it thoroughly, so that at the time of interview you don’t start fumbling. ( Source quora).
