Job Description
Post Name : Section Officer
Qualification : Any Graduate
Salary : Rs. 44,900 - Rs. 1,42,400/- Per Month
Job Location : New Delhi
1. Section Officer: 02 Posts on deputation in the Level-7 in Pay Matrix (Rs. 44,900-1,42,400
2. Eligibility: Officers of the Central Government/State Governments/Union Territory Administrations or Central/State Autonomous or Statutory bodies,
(a) (i) holding analogous post on regular basis or
(ii) having atleast 8 years of regular service in posts in the Level-5/Level-6 in pay matrix or equivalent and
(b) Possessing a Bachelofs degree from a recognized University/lnstitution. Place Of Posting: Kolkata- One post and Shillong- One post.
3. Note:- Period Of deputation shall not ordinarily exceed three years. The departmental officers in the feeder category who are in direct line of promotion will not be eligible for consideration for appointment on deputation.
Age: The maximum age limit for appointment by deputation should not be exceeding 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of application.

General Instructions
1. Applications should be sent either in English or in Hindi and only in the prescribed proforma and the information/data must be provided under the rcspcctivc item itself (neatly handwritten or typed out in A-4 size paper- 210 X 297 mm). Specific response [including yes/no/not applicable] to each item must be provided and no item shall be left blank, failure of which would render the application liable to be rejected. The candidates shall not make any changes to the prescribed proforma on their own accord. Failure to comply with these instructions would render the application to be rejected.
2. Although place of postings are one post in Kolkata and one post in Shillong however, the Board reserves the right to post the selected candidates anywhere in India.
3. Only Indian Nationals need to apply.
4. The Board reserves the right not to fill up the post, if it so decides.
5. No correspondence/representation will be entertained in regard to the call for interview and/or selection.
6. The crucial date for determining the age-limit shall be the closing date for receipt of applications.
7. The candidates who apply for the post will not be allowed to withdraw their candidature subsequently.

Last date for the Applicants from Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh, division of J&K State, Lahaul and Spiti-District & Pangi Sub-division of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands or Lakshadweep will be for the applicants.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), statutory organisation, was constituted in September, 1974 under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974. Further, CPCB was entrusted with the powers and functions under the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.

It serves as a field formation and also provides technical services to the Ministry of Environment and Forests of the provisions of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986. Principal Functions of the CPCB, as spelt out in the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, (i) to promote cleanliness of streams and wells in different areas of the States by prevention, control and abatement of water pollution, and (ii) to improve the quality of air and to prevent, control or abate air pollution in the country.

Air Quality Monitoring is an important part of the air quality management. The National Air Monitoring Programme (NAMP) has been established with objectives to determine the present air quality status and trends and to control and regulate pollution from industries and other source to meet the air quality standards. It also provides background air quality data needed for industrial siting and towns planning.

Besides this, CPCB has an automatic monitoring station at ITO Intersection in New Delhi. At this station Resirable Suspended Particulate Matter (RSPM), Carbon Monoxide (CO), Ozone (O3), Sulphur Dioxide (SO2), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) and Suspended Particulate Matter (SPM) are being monitored regularly. This information on Air Quality at ITO is updated every week.
