The GPSC syllabus can be divided into two parts: the GPSC Prelims syllabus and the GPSC mains syllabus, the selection is also done on the basis of interview rounds. The exams are conducted in Gujarati or English language only. The GPSC is conducted in two stages, the prelims that are the objective type and the mains that are the written and personal round.
The stages of exams for the Gujarat Public Service Commission, candidates need to clear the three most essential sections which are as follows:
- 2 Papers- Prelims ( Objective questions)
- 6 Papers – Main exams (written questions)
- Personal Interview
Phase I GPSC Syllabus Class I: Preliminary Exam
The GPSC Prelims comprises two papers that are MCQ based. The total marks for the papers is 400, each paper carrying 200 marks each. It is essential to clear the prelims in order to appear for the mains. The duration of each prelim paper will be approximately 120 minutes.

Phase II GPSC Syllabus Class I: Mains Exam
The GPSC mains consists of 6 exams, in order to give the main exams, the candidates need to clear the prelims exam. The total marks in GPSC mains are 900 marks, the 6 exams are the Gujrati, English, Essay, General studies 1, General studies 2, General Studies 3.
