CAT is the highly esteemed management entrance exam on all India level conducted by IIMs. It is a computer based exam for admission in a graduate management program. The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) accept CAT’s score for selecting students for their business administration programs. CAT is an opportunity to enter 20 IIMs and over 1200 B-schools in India.
CAT Eligibility
Candidate wishing to apply for CAT should hold bachelor’s degree in any stream with no less than 50% or equal marks (45% for reserved candidates).
Candidate should be granted degree by any government recognized universities in India.
Final year graduation students can also apply for the exam.
CAT Exam Pattern
CAT exam is given by lakhs of MBA applicants all over the country. CAT is an online exam. It has 3 sections with 3 hours of time resulting in 60 minutes for each section. Candidate can’t Jump between sections while writing the exam.
Questions are in the format of MCQs and Non-MCQs. For Multiple choice questions, four choices will be given.
The score is calculated for each section based on the number of questions one answered correctly, incorrectly, or left unattempted. Candidates are given +3 points for each correct answer and -1 point for each incorrect answer. No points are given for questions that are not answered.
CAT is a computer-based test which consists of 3 sections:
- Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VARC)
- Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DI & LR)
- Quantitative Ability (QA)
The Verbal & Reading Comprehension (VARC) and Quantitative Ability (QA) sections consist of 34 questions each, whereas the Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DI & LR) section has 32 questions.
CAT Exam Syllabus
Here in this publish we help you understand the syllabus for CAT exam. As this exam is divided in three sections Quantitative Ability, Verbal & Reading Comprehension and Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning. The difficulty level of the exam is based on 10+2 level.
QA section includes fundamental mathematics, based on 10 + 2 difficulty level. Problems are based on various topics like Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Commercial Mathematics (Word Problems).
D I and L R section includes questions which are asked based on the given data. The data given might be in the form of graphs, charts, tables and paragraphs. Data Interpretation problems test the candidate’s understanding of the data and the ability to solve problems accurately. Logical Reasoning questions check the candidate’s ability to solve and evaluate problems.
