CAT 2020-21 Exam Result News Update

CAT 2020 has awarded higher percentile at lower scores as the CAT 2020 exam this year consisted of fewer questions. This year there were 76 questions in CAT exam instead of 100 earlier. The slot-1, 2 and 3 of CAT exam which got over on November 29, 2020 had 22 no-penalty questions which means more possibility of scoring high without any fear of negative marking. Same pattern was followed in all the three slots of CAT 2020 exam.

The official CAT exam website mentions the CAT 2020 exam Result date as second week of January 2021. However, the CAT result has been declared much ahead of the schedule as has been the past trends. CAT 2020 exam was held in 159 test cities at 430 test centres which is the highest number of test cities for any MBA entrance exam in India.

Processing CAT Result with Final Answers Over

IIM Indore has concluded the scrutiny of all objections received against the answer keys and has confirmed on December 31, 2020, “After due deliberation and careful examination, the expert panels decided that there is no change in the answer key for Shift 1 and Shift 3 question papers. However, the answer key for one question (ID 48916812935) in the QA section in Shift 2 has been revised” and added further, “The answer key for this question has been revised. The candidates who have chosen either of the two correct options would be awarded full marks for this question.”

Since IIMs release CAT Result in a week’s time from the date of Releasing Final CAT Answer Key after finalising the answers, it is expected that CAT 2020 result will be released on January 5, 2021. Immediately after the CAT 2020 result release, top IIMs will start releasing the shortlists within two three days.

Step-1: Go to the CAT website to login and begin the CAT result 2020 score card download process.

CAT 2020 Exam Result: Important instructions
Following are the important CAT result related instructions issued by IIMs for the benefit of CAT 2020 exam takers regarding the CAT 2020 score card download:

Only candidates who have taken the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2020 are entitled to receive the score card. The print-out of the score card is for your information pertaining to CAT 2020. You will not receive score card by email or by post.
The Scaled Scores of Section-1 (Verbal Ability & reading Comprehension); Section-2 (Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning) and Section-3 (Quantitative Ability) are not additive. The Overall Scaled Scores is based on the total raw scores earned by the candidate.
Percentile refers to percentage of candidates who receive score less than or equal to the score obtained by the candidate.
IIMs and Non-IIM member institutions independently decide how to use CAT 2020 scores on the basis of their own selection process. The scores are to be used only for selecting the candidates to their Post Graduate / Fellow Programme(s) in Management.
All queries regarding post-CAT 2020 selection process must be directed to respective IIMs. CAT Centre will not answer post-CAT related queries.
CAT 2020 score is valid until 31st December 2021 and subject to meeting the minimum eligibility marks in the qualifying examination.

Shortlisting by IIMs: Post CAT Result Process
Immediately after CAT results are announced, the top 3-4 IIMs like IIM Calcutta, IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Lucknow announce the shortlist of candidates for final selection process. Each IIM sends interview letters to the shortlisted candidates directly on email/registered/speed post. The criteria for shortlisting vary across IIMs.
