About the Organisation
The Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (CBS) is a joint initiative of the Department of Atomic Energy and the University of Mumbai. About the Role
The Registrar acts as the administrative head of the institute and is responsible for managing academic and non-academic operations. This role demands strong leadership skills, excellent organisational ability, and deep familiarity with the functioning of educational and research institutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all administrative, academic, and personnel functions of the institute.
- Supervise recruitment, promotions, service records, and staff welfare activities.
- Coordinate the conduct of meetings of statutory bodies and maintain official records.
- Implement policies and regulations of the Governing Council and academic committees.
- Ensure compliance with all government and institutional rules.
- Supervise financial management and institutional planning.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification: Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks from a recognised university.
Experience: At least 15 years of administrative experience in a university, research institute, or autonomous body, with a minimum of 8 years in a senior managerial position.
Age Limit: Not exceeding 55 years as on 1 November 2025 (relaxations apply as per government rules).

Selection Process
A screening committee will shortlist eligible candidates based on qualifications and experience. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview. The final appointment will be made on merit and subject to verification of credentials.
