In 1964 , The Sankatmochan Urban Co-op. Bank" was founded. Shri. Shrikrishna. D. Date alias Babaji Date was the Chief Promoter and First Chairman, Shir V.D. Pendse alias Bhausaheb Pendse, the first Vice-Chairman, Shri. S.S. Melag and Shri K.U. Pande, were Manager. These were the people with profound and enduring ideals, faith, vision, optimism and entrepreneurial skills. They had a commendable sense of service and duty in them. Even today, our honorable founders inspire a sense of awe and respect in the Bank and amongst the shareholders. Dr. C.D. Date, Dy. Governer (RBI), Founder Member of NABARD, helped Bank at the initial stage.

The Society was initially set up to help families in distress. The Society was converted into a full-fledged Yavatmal Urban Co-operative Bank in the year 1965.

The bank was registered under Maharashtra State Co-operative Societies Act, 1960 on 12th April., 1965 vide registration no. YML/BNK/114 and license no. UBD/MH/906P on 9th Nov.1987 and is governed by the Banking Regulation Act 1949 (A.A.C.S.) sec 5(CCV).
