Educational and other qualifications prescribed for direct recruitment: 

i) MBBS Degree from a recognized University.

ii) A Post Graduate Medical Diploma Stream) specified from a Degree / (Medical in the speciality recognized University.

iii) Post qualification experience of 10 years in the case of PG Degree holders and 12 years post qualification experience in the case of PG Diploma holders in a reputed hospital, in the field of specialization.

Period of probation (in years): NA

Method of recruitment (whether by direct recruitment or by promotion/ absorption/ deputation: By absorption through composite method ,failing which by deputation from other Govt organizations , and failing with by direct recruitment

In case of promotion/ absorption/ deputation, grades from which it should be made: 

a. For absorption through method, officers holding analogous posts or holding the of Dy. Chief Medical Officer (Specialist) and equivalent specialist posts in Medical Department in the scale of pay of Rs 249(K) — with 3 years regular service in the grade in a Major Port Trust or Dy. Chief Medical Officer equivalent Specialist posts in Medical Department with 2 years regular service in the grade and a combined regular service of 7 years in the scales of pay of Rs 206(K) — 465(K) (Pre-revised Rs 10750 — 16750) and 24900 — (Specialist cadre) in Medical Department in a Major Port Trust will be eligible.

b. For deputation, officers holding analogous posts or officers holding posts of Dy. Chief Medical Officer (Specialist) and equivalent Specialist posts in the scale of pay of Rs 24900 — 50500/- in Medical Department in a Govt / Semi Govt / PSUs / Autonomous Bodies with 3 years regular service in the grade will be eligible. The Selection is by merit for which the bench mark in overall grading in the APARs will not be below "Very Good".
