Post Name : Business Correspondent
Qualification : 10TH
Job Location : Chennai
1. Eligibility: Retired bank employees/retired teachers/retired government employees and Ex-servicemen, members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) which are linked to banks etc., are also eligible.
2. Qualification: The Applicant should have the minimum qualification of 101" std. and should be able to read and write in Tamil & English and should have basic computer knowledge.
3. Preference: The Applicants should be a permanent resident of only from Chennai City.The Applicant should produce two references given by respectable persons preferably known to the bank. The Applicant should have good CIBIL score. Candidates with IIBF certificate examination for Business Correspondents will be preferred.
4. Scope of Activities: 1. Opening of Savings Accounts 2. Identification of prospective customer / borrowers 3. Creating awareness about savings, digital banking and other products offered by the bank. 4. Receipt and delivery of small value remittances / payments. 5. Recovery of principal/collection of interest. 6. Collection of small value deposit.

1. Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) was founded on 10th February 1937 by Shri. M.Ct.M. Chidambaram Chettyar, a pioneer in many fields.

2. The Bank was founded by him with the main objective of specializing in foreign exchange business in banking to take the Bank across the globe

3. IOB started business simultaneously - at Karaikudi, Chennai and Rangoon in Burma (presently Myanmar) followed by a branch in Penang, Malaysia.

4. At the dawn of Independence IOB had 38 branches in India and 7 branches abroad -and Deposits stood at Rs.6.64 Crores and Advances at Rs.3.23 Crores at that time.

5. IOB was one of the 14 major banks that were nationalized in 1969. On the eve of Nationalization in 1969, IOB had 195 branches in India with aggregate deposits of Rs.67.70 Cr. and Advances of Rs.44.90 Cr.
