Job Information
Filling of 01 post of Technician (Diesel) in the Directorate of Lighthouses and Lightships, Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
- Number of Post :01 Nos. (Group 'C', Non-Gazetted, Non Ministerial).
- Pay Scale : Pay level - 5
- Qualification : Passed matriculation or its equivalent. Should have served as an apprentice for at least four years in a reputable firm or in a Central or State Government establishment. Should have in addition two years' practical experience in the installation, maintenance and overhauling of Diesel generator sets, Air Compressors, Battery chargers etc. Or
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised Institution with two years' experience in the Installation, maintenance and overhauling of Diesel Generator Sets,

Applications duly supported with self-attested true copies of certificates and testimonials of suitable candidates by Registered/Speed Post should reach on or before 30.09.2019 addressed to “The Director, Directorate of Lighthouses and Lightships, "Deep Bhawan”, 44 B.S. Road, Phoenix Bay, Port Blair-744101". The Director will not be responsible for any postal delay/wrong delivery at any stage of the selection process.
Application received after the last date will be summarily rejected and will not be entertained. The Director has the right to reject any application without assigning any reason thereof.

For the safe voyage in Indian waters, the Directorate has provided aids to marine navigation. They can be categorized as visual and radio Aids. The visual aids are lighthouses, light vessels, buoys and beacons. The radio aids are DGPS, RACONs etc. All these aids are passive in nature and not user interactive. The Directorate has entered into the interactive field of Aids to Navigation i.e. Vessel Traffic Service. For the control of jurisdiction the aids to marine navigation are categorized as General Aids and Local Aids. The upkeep and maintenance of general aids to marine navigation is the responsibility of the Directorate as per the LH Act 1927. The upkeep and maintenance of local aids is the responsibility of various Maritime State Government organizations like Ports, State Maritime Boards etc. However the directorates are extending all technical support for maintenance of the local lights. In case the local lights are not maintained to the international standard due to financial constraints and lack of proper technical personnel, the Directorate on acceptance of the local bodies is taking over the those local lights.
