About Us

The historic Ahmedabad Declaration on Industrial Design for Development-1979 will be completing its fourth decade in January 2019. To commemorate 40 years of this seminal declaration, NID in association with the World Design Organization (WDO) announces a two day International Conference on Design for Social Development during Feb. 14-15, 2019. It’ll be held at NID Gandhinagar Campus. The declaration was jointly made by UNIDO and ICSID (now WDO) in close cooperation with NID, Ahmedabad way back in 1979.

NID 2019 is national level entrance exam conducted by National Institute of Design for various UG and PG design courses scheduled to take place in January 2019. All aspirants for NID DAT 2019 can fill application form online on the official website, i.e. www.nid.edu. The exam will be of 3 hours with subjective and objective type questionsNID DAT 2019 Application Form will be available tentatively from October 2018 in the online mode.

  • Candidates can pay the application fee via online and offline mode.
  • For M.Des program, candidates must not be more than 30 years.
  • For B.Des and GDPD program candidates must not be more than 20 years of age.
  • Candidates qualifying the Prelims round will be eligible to appear for Mains exam.
  • NID 2019 is a 3-hour exam comprising both subjective and objective type questions.
  • NID will release separate admit cards for both Prelims and Mains round.

  • Not more than 20 years as on June 30, 2019, for General candidates and Foreign Nationals
  • Not more than 23 years as on June 30, 2019, for SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates.
  • Not more than 25 years as on June 30, 2019, for Indian PWD candidates.
Academic Qualification Successfully completed or appearing for 10+2 examination or equivalent from any recognized Board.
M. Des
Age
  • Not more than 30 years as on June 30, 2019 for General candidates and Foreign Nationals
  • Not more than 33 years as on 30 June 2019 for SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates.
  • Not more than 35 years as on January 19 for Indian PWD candidates.
Academic Qualification
  • Bachelor degree of minimum 4-year duration in any specialization, from any recognized University.
  • Applicant must have passed or have appeared for or be appearing for qualifying examinations before July 2019.

OR

  • Bachelor degree of minimum 3-year duration in any discipline.
  • Applicants must have passed the Bachelor’s degree examination before July 2018.

OR

  • Full-time Diploma (Design/Fine Arts/Applied Arts/Architecture) of minimum 4-year duration, from any recognized university.
  • Applicant must have passed or have appeared for or be appearing for qualifying examinations before July 2019.

NID 2019 Application Form is expected to be available from October 2019. Applicants need to visit the official website, i.e. www.nid.edu and register before proceeding to fill the application form.

Admit Card

NID 2019 Admit Card will be available for download from the official website separately for Prelims and Mains exam of both UG and PG levels according to the schedule.

  • Visit the official website of NID – www.admissions.nid.edu.
  • Click on the relevant link of NID 2019 Admit Card.
  • Fill in the required details and click submit button.
  • In case the candidate has forgotten their application no., click on “Click here to view your application”.
  • Click on “submit” to see the application number
  • The NID 2019 Admit card will be generated on the screen. Take a printout and keep it safely.

Exam Centers

Applicants can specify their choice of Test Center in their Application Form. However, the final allocation of test centers is done my NID. Once allocated, no request for any change in test center will be entertained.

NID 2019 Cut Off

Separate Cut Offs will be released for NID DAT Prelims and NID DAT Mains exam. Only candidates who secure NID DAT Prelims cut-off scores are eligible to take part in the subsequent Studio Test and Interview round for NID admissions.

In case of M. Des admissions, based on the category-wise merit list of DAT Prelims, the number of candidates shortlisted for DAT Mains, in each category and discipline is 5 times the number of available seats in each category and respective discipline.

Exam Pattern 2019

Exam pattern of NID DAT 2019 was announced by National Institute of Design for prelims and mains. Candidates appearing for NID DAT 2019 Prelims will be evaluated on their knowledge, comprehension, analysis, creativity and visualisation.

It will comprise two parts:

  • Part 1: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) marked out of 30 marks
  • Part 2: Subjective questions marked out of 70 marks.

The final stage of NID DAT 2019, Mains, will involve tests in different formats such as drawing/sketching, hands-on model making, group discussions and presentations.

It is recommended that candidates should practise the sample papers released by the NID in order to have a better idea about the actual entrance exam.


Nid Entrance Exam 2019

NID 2019 Answer Key is releasing soon. NID Entrance Test 2019 (National Institute of Design) will be organized by the NID itself. It offers UG & PG design courses in the institution and its affiliated campuses. Design Aptitude Test (DAT) is the exam through which candidates can get admission in the four years of (B.Des) & (M.Des) programmes.

Nid Entrance Exam Sample Papers

NID DAT Sample Papers 2019 – Candidates aspiring to pursue bachelor of design programme can download the NID DAT 2019 sample papers. The aim of these NID DAT sample papers is to assist the candidates get an idea about the type of questions that will be asked in the entrance exam. By solving NID DAT sample papers 2019, candidates will be able to prepare well for the final exam.

Students should solve the NID DAT sample papers 2019 as they would assess their weak and strong areas. Candidates would learn how to manage their time. Apart from this the candidates would also be able to assess which are the topics that are most important, less important and least relevant.

NID DAT Exam Pattern 2019

Exam pattern of NID DAT 2019-Prelims

In the prelims, there will be two parts of the question paper. In the first part, candidates will had to answer objective questions and it was of 30 points. Candidates will have to mark the answer in the OMR sheet.

In Part II of the question paper, there were subjective questions which the candidates had to respond and it is mandatory for them to answer all the questions.

The prelim exam of NID DAT 2019 was of three hours and it was conducted in English. There was no negative marking for answering the questions incorrectly.

NID DAT Exam Pattern 2019 – Mains 

The exam pattern of NID DAT 2019 mains will be of three hours and the questions will be in different formats like hands-on-model making, drawing, sketching. The total marks of the exam will be 100 and all the questions will be in English.
