FACT Forensic Science Aptitude & Calibre Test 2018-They are screening tests like UGC/NET/GATE and will ensure minimum standard for Forensic Science Postgraduates involved in conducting laboratory tests of crime evidence in FSLs in India, thereby contributing to the quality of forensic science services across the country

The services of qualified candidates may be utilized on need basis to assist Forensic Scientists in expediting the disposal of pending cases at various CFSLs and FSLs in India


LNJN FACT Forensic Science Aptitude & Calibre Test 2018

Eligibility Criteria

    • Applicant must be an Indian national. For appearing in FACT, the candidate must possess educational qualifications as per the elective chosen for FACT

 

  • Educational qualifications needed for FACT are given for each specialization with a need to have studied specified subjects at the graduate level in Table 1 of the Prospectus that is available at the ‘FACT and FACT Plus’ link at ww.nicfs.gov.in or directly at http://nicfs.gov.in/?page_id=16816

 

  • For appearing for FACT Plus, the applicant need to be qualified in CBSE-UGC NET or CSIR-UGC NET or GATE or GPAT as per Table 2 of the Prospectus

Forensic Physics

  • (i) M. Sc. in Physics / Biophysics / Applied Physics (ii) Bachelor of Engineering (Civil/Electrical/Mechanical/ Electronics/Telecommunication/ Computer Science/Instrumentation)/ (iii) M.Sc. in Forensic Science with Physics as a subject at Undergraduate level

Forensic Ballistics

  • (i) M.Sc. in Physics / Applied Physics /Mathematics/ Applied Mathematics (ii) M.Sc. in Forensic Science with Physics or Mathematics as a subject at UG level

Forensic Document Exam

  • (i) M.Sc. in Physics (ii) M.Sc. in Chemistry / Biochemistry (iii)AIC by Exam(iv) M.Sc. in Forensic Science with Physics or Chemistry as a subject at Undergraduate Level

Cyber Forensics

  • (i) B.Tech. /B.E. in Computer Science / Electrical /Electronic Engineering (ii) Master’s Degree in any subject and Certification /Diploma in Cyber Forensics/Information Security (iii) Master’s Degree in Physics / Mathematics /Applied Mathematics / Forensic Science

Forensic Biological Sciences

  • Master’s Degree in Botany / Zoology /Microbiology / Biotechnology / Biochemistry /Physical Anthropology / Forensic Science/Genetics with Botany or Zoology as a subject at UG level

Forensic Chemical Sciences

  • Master’s Degree in Chemistry/Toxicology/Biochemistry/Pharmacology/ Pharmacy/ Forensic Science or AIC by examination with Chemistry as a subject at UG level
  • For appearing in FACT plus, applicant should have additional qualifications as described in Table 2 of the Prospectus which shows the subjects the applicant should have taken at GATE/CBSE UGC NET/CSIR UGC NET/ GPAT

Age Limit

  • There is no upper age limit

FACT Date Test

  • FACT and FACT Plus will be held from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm on 23rd September 2018 (Sunday) in an online mode at Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aurangabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Patna and Ranchi
  • Applicant may opt for a maximum of three Examination Centers, in order of preference while applying. One may appear in FACT or FACT Plus
  • The FACT, the Basic Exam For Post-graduate candidates will test the candidates in pure Sciences on their understanding and command over basic concepts
  • FACT Plus is an advanced level of examination for Post-graduate candidates who have cleared NET/GATE/GPAT and will test the aptitude of the candidates towards forensic science related matters

Exam Structure

  • FACT & FACT Plus will consist of one paper with objective type questions and will be conducted as an online test. A candidate may appear in FACT or FACT Plus at a time.
  • The test will be of 2-hour duration and shall consist of two Parts:
  • Section A Section B
  • A shall be compulsory to all candidates and will have 50 questions to test the aptitude in Forensic Science. Section B shall consist of six specialized forensic science subjects-Forensic Physics, Forensic Ballistics, Forensic Document Examination, Cyber Forensics, Forensic Chemical Sciences and Forensic Biological Sciences, with 70 questions from each specialized subject
  • A candidate has to attempt any one of these six specialized Forensic Science subjects
  • Each question will carry 1 mark and will have 4 options with one correct option. There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers. The medium of examination will be English

Syllabus of Exam

  • The syllabus of exam may be seen at ww.nicfs.gov.in. The syllabus for FACT and FACT Plus will be the same, only the level of questions will be different
  • FACT qualifying mark: Candidate must individually obtain 50% or more marks in each of the sections of the exam and also overall qualifying marks of at least 60%. There will be a relaxation of 5% in the qualifying marks of SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates. The list of qualifying candidates will be declared subject-wise according to each elective subject

Application Procedure

  • Applications can be submitted online at http://nicfs.gov.in/?page_id=16816 latest by 05.30 pm on 15th July 2018
  • Registration Fee for Female Applicants & OBC-NC, SC/ST/PH applicants is Rs.400/-. For males of General category, it is Rs.800/-. This fee is applicable for both the Tests
  • Registration fee can be paid using Credit Card, Debit Card or Net Banking. After filling the online application, candidates should preview their entire application form and make changes if required before final submission of online application
  • No change in the particulars entered in the application form will be possible after final submission of online application and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained
  • Applicants should check the status of fee payment at www.nicfs.gov.in. If the status is ‘OK’, he/she will be able to take the printout of Confirmation Page

Admit Card

  • e-Admit Card will be issued to registered candidates by NIELIT from 31st August 2018
  • Question/Answer Keys (After Exam) will be notified on 23rd September 2018 (Sunday). Results will be declared on 30th September 2018 (Sunday)

Issue of FACT &FACT Plus Certificate

    • All those declared provisionally qualified will be expected to produce original copy of all the certificates/testimonials for verification at the time and date to be notified before they are finally declared as qualified

Important Dates

  • Registrations are open from 20th June 2018 (11.30 a.m.) to 15th July 2018
  • Last Date for Receiving Application is 15th July 2018
  • e-Admit Card will be issued to registered candidates by NIELIT from 31st August 2018
  • FACT & FACT Plus will be held from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm on 23rd September 2018 (Sunday)
  • Question/Answer Keys (After Exam) will be notified on 23rd September 2018
  • Results will be declared on 30th September 2018
