SYNTEL PAPER ON 21st JULY

hi frenz...................this is maria antony pursuing final year BE with ECE backdrop in VRS coll,villupuram Dist.....i am very pleased to say that i have joined the syntel family a fortnight before......................thanks to the freshersworld and VIT placement consortium ,without them i would not be typing this paper for u......................................

Let me brief u about my journey towards the opening of the SYNTEL gates................
first interview :CTS .........didnt cleared the 1 st round itself
second interview :CARITOR.........gone thro aps n GD but expelled in tech interview which lasted for 45 mins
third interview :SYNTEL..................

u really need to have a zeal in ur heart to get thro an interview process....it all started 4 me from the 6 sem vacations..........i become almost a maniac in the month of june..............solved each n every problem from RS AGGARWAL non verbal reasoning..quite big one...........it was like 24 hrs a day was not enough 4 me to get thro the topics.......................i attended the CTS on 23 june..did the aps and nonverbal exceptionally well except 4 the verbal which thrashed my CTS dream ..................i came out with a heavy heart but determined to do better in future...................JESUS gave me another chance that too in a row of 6 companies following.......................what ever i studied earlier helped me to get thro the aps of caritor...........the paper was really a standard one................but luck diddnt favoured me in the tech interview....it was a burning hell ..........lasted upto 45 minutes................nearly 40 to 50 questions.............5 from cricket,4 from organic chemistry,7 from digital electronics,6 from microprocessors n controllers,4 current affairs,5 from communication ,2 from art of cooking and bit of stress interview about smoking and 3 puzzles and some silly questions from XP but very difficult to answer.................

After getting rejected i came to the hotel room by 8 pm and relaxed myself.........the next day was SYNTEL interview.....didnt even touched any of the aps book,C book,dept books...just slept by 11 and got up by 7..........went to VIT where the process was about to begin....................

The SYNTEL professionals were well organised ,came on time started the process with clear instructions...................
The whole paper consist of 40 questions................25 logical .....15 verbal..............with section cut offs

LOGICAL::
3 on direction sense test
4 on coding
5 on seating arrancements
bla bla bla.................

VERBAL::
1-5 questions were on correction of sentences.
6-10 questions were on analogy.
11-15 questions were on substitute the correct words

results were announced 1.45 pm.......................nearly 1200 students attended........only 202 were selected for GD..............3 including me ,were there from my coll............then the PPT began n lasted for 30 minutes...................

GROUP DISCUSSION:: this is the main session in SYNTEL placement procedure....where they filter nearly 60 to 70 % of students..............after a long wait it started 4 my batch at 6.30pm

The HR asked our opinion for the topic..........................every one over there blabbered as if they were true professionals.....................when it came to me i just knocked all their heads with an hammer ie the topic................Is GD really necessary in a recruiting process.................finally my topic was chosen......and i waited until 7 finished out of 12.....to my surprise i found all of them were telling that GD should be there in a selection process...........i was perplexed bcoz i was also about to support it...............at the last moment my presence of mind and spontaniety helped me to outwit others...i spoke for more than 5 minutes about the other side of group discussion which could make any one have a second thought about having it in a selection process....... .................my command over the language and my very own style and accent attracted all the group members and the HR ofcourse.......................then from the next four 3 opposed me and my classmate alone supported me............finally 3 were selected from my batch .........we 2 and 1 more guy...................

What i am going to tell u might be inferior but thats true in SYNTEL......................the GD is your HR interview where they decide whether u are HR select or reject...................hands down i got selected in it....................my tech interview was like a formality................................

TECHNICAL INTERVIEW::
HR:give me the photocopies of ur marksheets.......................
ME: gave with a pleasant smile
HR: tell me about urself
ME:started of in style...........but he interrupted me many times with some silly questions...................(that was to check whether i get distracted due to small disturbances...............but i was shrewd enough to overcome those things)
HR:types of topologies
ME: answered
HR: cond given............which one will suit this
ME:answered briefly
HR:diff bw microprocessors and controller
ME: said it initially right but at last gave a wrong conclusion
HR:diff between defining and declaring a variable in C
ME: total collapse...the lady who selected me in GD was there in the room........she started to laugh like anything with the Hr on hearing my answer...............
HR:tell me what is VRS...............ie my coll name
ME:answered...........
HR:bla bla bla
ME:answered..................
HR:ok antony u can leave the results will be announced on tuesday
ME:thats not a problem sir i will wait

ME:i dont like formalities sir...........thank u................it was nice meeting u.................
