INFOSYS PAPER ON 28th OCTOBER 2007

Hi, This is Manoj Kumar. Im very glad to be a part of Infosys.

The interview process had been conducted in Trichy Anna University for the 2007 passed out students. Approximately 1200 freshers attended the interview. 144 were passed the written.

As all of you know already written is the crucial part of the Infy interview rather HR. The main thing I did is I read the experiences candidates who attended recently. It helped me a lot.

To clear the written, all that you need is tuning up your mind in the last two days before the interview. The best way is to practice RS Agarwal reasoning book as much as you can.

Important topics are Direction finding, Puzzle test (All 7 chapters), Syllogism, Questions on Figures, Cubes, Blood relations, Data sufficiency, Data interpretation.

Logical reasoning- 30 questions- 40 mins.

Verbal ability       - 40 questions- 30 mins.

Logical Reasoning:

Q. (1 to 5): All 5 are of similar type and very easy to answer.

*A man is walking towards North and towards West turning right and turning to his left. The directions he is walking now?

*A man started running in North direction. What is sequence of direction he should be taken to end in the direction of South? Options like 1.left,right,right  2.left,left,left  3.right,right,right etc.

*Started in South dir. Running for 8km turn left, then again left . Distance from the starting position?

*Again some sequence of directions then turning 45۫  right and turning to the left. Direction he is walking in?

Forgot the next one.  But similar. This question came as a gift.

Q. (6-10): Finding the next figure. A difficult one. Not as usual, because the missing figure is in the middle. So no easy to understand the logic of the fig. series.

Q. (11-15): Data sufficiency. One statement has been given followed by another set of two statements A and B. From that two we have to find the necessary statements to conclude the first statement.

Options.  1. A only, 2. B only, 3.Either A or B, 4.Both A&B, 5.Neithe A nor B.

Q. (16-20): Data interpretation. Bar chart. Fast arithmetic calc. needed here.

Q. (21-25): A model of puzzle test. Set of statements were given followed by 5 questions.

There are 8 teachers A,B,C,D,E,F,G and H.

Statements:

There are 3 lady teachers, out of 8 four have done PhD , teachers who teach Economics and Law didnt hold PhD, Lady teachers not teach physics and Zoology .etc.

5 questions based on that.

Q. (26-30): Syllogism. There are 6 statements in each question followed by 4 options like ABD, DFD, BCD, AEF, BCE, CFDIn each question we have find the option which contains logically related statements.

E.g.  One of the questions was like this. (May not exact)

       A. Ramesh is intelligent

       B. Intelligence is not required to win lottery.

       C. Rahul won a chess game

       D. Rahul may not be intelligent.

       E. Playing chess may not require intelligence.

       F. Ramesh won lottery.

Below there are 4 options like ABC, BDE

Verbal ability:

They are giving importance to this section also. Because there is a sectional Cut-off.

First two questions are RC.  I would suggest not to touch this at the beginning. Other questions were deriving a conclusion from set of statements, grammatically correct sentences, fill in the blank with suitable option etc.

If your basics are strong then no problem. Be prepared with where to use conjunctions, prepositions, compatible sentence patterns etc.

Practicing CAT material may help. Practice is the key to be confident in this section.

HR:

My interview was at 4:00PM on the same day.

Me: Good evening Mam.

HR: Good evening.

Me: Bring me your CV.

HR: Give me an example for your innovativeness (From the objective in the resume).

Me: said.

HR: Solve this puzzle.

Me: I want few minutes.

HR: How much time do you need? (I was quiet). 5 mins?

Me: ok

HR: Will you give answer after 5mins.

Me: Ill try. (I was trying to solve it) After few mins.

HR: Explain the way you tried. (I said) Why do you want to join S/W instead of core (Im ECE).

Me: Rather saying I want to join S/W, better to say I want to join Infy. Becoz I am passionated about Infy. From my college days itself I wanted to join Infy. Thats why I did campus connect program conducted by Infosys.

HR: Any questions?

Me: I asked. Then interview finished.
